Who Are Garden Waste Collection Ampthill

Garden Waste Collection In Ampthill

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) closed the Ampthill, Biggleswade, Leighton Buzzard and Thorn Household Garden Waste Collection Ampthill Centres in April 2010, along with 302 other centres across the country. This happened due to the discovery of a dangerous caterpillar infestation in used fridges and freezers. Any Bedfordshire residents that had their fridges or freezers collected by our plants after 8 April 2010 are advised to contact DEFRA's National Bee Unit who can be contacted on 01234 604128 The site at Biggleswade was also used for the safe disposal of mattresses, fridges, cookers and other bulky household items.

Please bring your green waste to the roadside in front of your property next Monday (27 April) between 8am – 6pm for collection. This will include hedge cuttings, shrubs, branches, twigs and garden prunings. If your green waste is longer than 1 metre (40 inches), please cut to the correct length. Please do not put garden waste in with your black bin rubbish as this cannot be recycled by our contractor. We will continue to collect green waste until further notice.
The Witham dump (St Neots, Cambridgeshire) will no longer accept these items, so Bedfordshire County Council's four Household Garden Waste Collection Ampthill Centres are coordinating an alternative service with the Environment Agency towpaths team who provide safe disposal along the River Great Ouse. We will be reopening the Household Garden Waste Collection Ampthill Centres at Ampthill, Biggleswade, Leighton Buzzard and Thorn near Dunstable on Tuesday 12th January 2017 details of these changes can be found by clicking here. Please bring proof of address (photo ID, Council tax bill etc) when dropping off garden waste or recyclable materials.
We collect lawn cuttings, hedge clippings and leaves from households in Ampthill on behalf of the Waste Partnership for Bedford Borough Council. Our collection crews are made up of 19 men and women, supported by a physical handling team and a mobile vehicle repair unit. Ampthill residents will be able to have their green waste, such as cut grass clippings and hedge trimmings, collected from next Monday (27 April). The service will operate on a fortnightly basis between 10am and 2pm.
The transfer station at Ampthill will remain open to assist with the collection of black bag waste. Please use this facility for any normal waste unrelated to the ban and household collections. You can dispose of household waste, collect green garden waste or bulky items, but not accept food or other homemade compost. There are 4 household waste recycling centres in Ampthill Bedfordshire run by Garden Waste Collection Ampthill. They are currently all closed while the council decide on what to do.
