The Howden contracts will provide the basis for the borough to recycle around three quarters of households’ dry recyclable waste and offer residents of both local authority areas a comprehensive approach to recycling and resource recovery. The council's household waste recycling teams now collect garden waste from around 250,000 homes recycled at its site in Howden. The Garden Waste Collection Howden Howden team is also moving into Hull and East Riding to deliver services for the council. Garden Waste Collection Howden East provides collection services for approximately 263,000 households in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull including garden waste recycling and has improved these services to help tackle local environmental impact.

The statutory East Riding registration county, used for land registration purposes, was based on the historic West Riding boundaries. When county councils were established for the East and West Ridings in 1889 they used the same boundary. The East Riding administered the part of the "Humberside" parliamentary constituency north of the Humber Estuary. [2]. The company is now one of three private firms licensed by East Riding Council's environmental department to collect garden cuttings. Garden Waste Collection Howden Hornsea will be providing services for East Riding of Yorkshire Garden Waste Collection Howden Disposal Service, and Hull City Garden Waste Collection Howden Services.
