The Borough Council is proposing to install a new Puffin Crossing at Alcester Road near Castle Road ( see attached drawing ) to enable pedestrians to cross the narrow section of Alcester road safely ahead of the refuse trucks turning left to enter the council depot. The new crossing will be comprised of a high quality prefabricated concrete surface which will be located within the existing footway. It will be provided with tactile paving, compliant with DfT guidelines, and will have daylight cladding on its narrow edges that does not surround or obscure either side of the crossing.

Proposals to introduce a Puffin Crossing at the junction of Alcester Road and Castle Road, Studley, Alcester. The proposal to introduce the Puffin Crossing is to improve pedestrian safety as there have been a number of reported accidents at this location, which resulted in a collision between a car and a pedestrian. The Warwickshire County Council proposes to install a puffin crossing at a site on the southern side of Alcester Road, close to its junction with Castle Road.
Alcester Road in Studley will have a new Puffin crossing to allow pedestrians, including children and the people with mobility issues, to cross safely separated from traffic. This is the first Puffin Crossing in North Warwickshire. Currently there is no crossing at this location. The proposal includes minor changes to parking on the approach to the junction. A short section of nearby grass verge would be used by cyclists waiting before going across the road.
The current speed limit of 40 mph would remain. Warwickshire County Council proposes to carry out works to install a Puffin crossing system at a busy junction in Alcester. The proposal is to install an unsignalised ‘Puffin’ type pedestrian crossing to provide for the needs of pedestrians and equestrians in the rural location. The scheme will be located close to Castle Road and the proposed new development on land adjacent to a Supermarket. We will be carrying out works to provide a Puffin Crossing along Alcester Road near Castle Road, Studley.
These works are expected to last around 46 weeks. We would like to know your views on this proposal. The crossing would serve pedestrians from Studley Common Estate and Tandoors Park, as well as those who attend the nursery adjacent to the site.
