Who Are Refuse Collection Goldthorpe

Refuse Collection In Goldthorpe

On behalf of Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham Councils we are now responsible for refuse collection across the three boroughs. From our recycling site at Bolton Road, Goldthorpe South Yorkshire, your household waste is taken to one of two mechanical treatment facilities where it will be mechanically sorted into materials such as metal and glass that can be safely returned to the resource pipeline. The facility at Bolton Road, Manvers, has been designed to handle the different types of materials from the three south Yorkshire authorities and is run by 3SE, a consortium of Refuse Collection Goldthorpe and SSE.

Contract award to 3SE, a consortium of Refuse Collection Goldthorpe and SSE, for the design, supply and installation of an integrated refuse treatment facility for the Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham areas. The facility at Goldthorpe in South Yorkshire is the first of three such facilities in South Yorkshire. The facility combines mechanical and biological treatment alongside associated waste infrastructure including tip face modifications, road realignment, site fencing and gate automation. Final waste quantities will be approximately 1 million tonnes pa of which ~80% will be suitable for use as fuel with some benefitting from further processing first for further energy extraction or sal.
3SE will deal with the entire waste and recycling needs for homes in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham, including refuse collection and street cleaning. The £21 million facility deals with all nonrecyclable waste – about 60% of the total. This is turned into refuse derived fuel (RDF) which is then made into electricity. The remaining waste is tipped into an advanced Mechanical Biological Treatment plant, where it is recycled. The refuse collection Goldthorpe facility is situated adjacent to the former Shirebrook energy from waste plant site, close to the River Trent and the busy A60 Barnsley Road.
The facility will process approximately 232,000 tonnes of waste for the three councils. The council waste enters the site via a vehicle lift on to an infeed conveyor belt which feeds it into two ball mills. The material in the ball mills is ground to a fine texture under the action of steel balls rotating within the mill at speeds of up to 80 revolutions per minute. Ball mills are used because they grind materials to a finer consistency more quickly and easily than conventional grinding equipment such as drums.
In the case of Refuse Collection Goldthorpe 's Yorkshire ball mills, materials are ground in such small particles that they are blown out through holes in the. With around 170,000 tonnes of waste collected and transported each year, this stateoftheart facility will help to power local homes and businesses with almost all the waste that remains after recycling. About 100,000 tonnes of waste collected from households in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham will be used to supply 9,000 MW hours of electricity a year enough to power the equivalent of 37 per cent of homes in South Yorkshire or 11 per cent across the region.

The rest will be processed into refuse derived fuel (RDF) which will be burned in a nearby power station to produce electricity. The Energy from Waste facility in Yorkshire, built by Refuse Collection Goldthorpe and SSE, is one of Britain's most advanced energy recovery plants. Designed to divert as much waste from landfill as possible, it converts residual waste into electricity for the Refuse Collection Goldthorpe and steam for local industry. A muchneeded new refuse (and recycling) facility has been delivered at Goldthorpe in South Yorkshire, just outside Doncaster.
