Residents affected have been warned they will not be able to put their green bins out for collection until next month. The service was suspended on Monday morning because there was not enough capacity on the skip lorry. A spokesman from Staffordshire County Council's waste and recycling department said: "Affected areas include Coppenhall, Dunston and a small area of Penkridge and residents have been advised to put their green bin out again for the next scheduled collection in two weeks'time.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused. The residents affected should put their green bin on the kerb for the next scheduled collection, in two weeks’ time. Only those on the left hand side of streets will require a new bin bag for this collection however. Meanwhile, alternative arrangements are being made with our service providers and we will continue to update residents as necessary. Residents in the Coppenhall, Dunston, and a small area of Penkridge will have their refuse and recycling collection cancelled for one week due to the industrial action being taken against the company.

Refuse and recycling will be collected 48 hours later than usual this week, on Thursday 17 and Thursday 24 October 2012. Residents in the Coppenhall area of Penkridge were advised to return their bins to the roadside last night – following the discovery of refuse collection vehicles with broken compactor lids. Residents affected by the suspension offor greenbin collections in three streets in Penkridge should put their bins out for collection as normal next week.
