Due to the adverse weather conditions refuse collections will be suspended today (26 February). Collections originally scheduled to take place in the Inskip, Irwell, Ormskirk Road, Blaydon Park, Blythewood, and Fir Tree Close areas of Skelmersdale will now take place tomorrow (27 February). The Streets Ahead service in Bacup has now almost finished. The latest refuse collections have taken place in the areas of Inskip, Irwell, Ormskirk Road, Blaydon Park, Blythewood, and Fir Tree Close, This means only one area is left to be completed in Skelmersdale on Thursday.

Residents in the above areas are asked not to put their bins out until after 7am on Thursday (27 February). refuse collections due to take place during the day today (26 February) in the Barrow and Calder area of Skelmersdale are expected to be delayed. A refuse collection in the Overcroft, Nutfield, Hindle Fold Close and Netherton areas of Skelmersdale has been cancelled on Friday 26th February due to a Skelmersdale United vs. Ormskirk FC league fixture this evening at 7:45pm.

However, crews are working hard to catch up so we can get back to our normal days as quickly as possible. Due to weather conditions in Lancashire, today's refuse collection at the above locations is cancelled and will take place tomorrow (27 February). This is due to an error in the crew rota. The waste collection service is run by the council and was due to take place today (26 February) in these areas. Services are expected to be back to normal tomorrow (27 February). Bacup refuse collectors have been called in today (26 February) in a bid to keep the area as rubbish free as possible. More than 200 households were set to have their rubbish taken away today, but the refuse collection has been delayed.
