The crews operating in Crewkerne and in most of Mendip District which includes the villages of Burrington, Eccup, East Pennard, Gurney Slade, Midsomer Norton, Paulton, Shepton Beauchamp, Stemleigh and West Pennard will be servicing only the green and brown recycling bins today Thursday 25 February in some areas where sufficient resources do not allow for all bins to be collected this.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but the Council is working to return recycling collections back to normal as soon as possible. Apologies for the missed collections today Thursday 25 February 2014, due to staff sickness and restrictions caused by the coronavirus at Crewkerne refuse transfer station (Hilly Farm Road). This is affecting Crewkerne, Chard, Whitelackington, Brompton Ralph, Thurlbear, Bishop Sutton and Hambridge. Collections will be returned to normal as soon as possible, we appreciate your patience while we resolve this issue.
If your waste and recycling was not collected today please put it out again on the morning of Friday 26 February. refuse collection crews will be making a second attempt to collect waste and recycling from affected areas in Crewkerne and the surrounding villages on Friday 26 February. Staff shortages due to coronavirus safety measures and other issues have led to missed recycling collections today Thursday 25 February from some streets between Edgarley and East Pennard in Mendip and in and around Tatworth and Winsham in South Somerset.
The refuse collection crew in Crewkerne, Somerset operates its own refuse collection vehicles and carries out both waste collection and recycling services for the district of Crewkerne, as well as clearing away general waste produced by customers in North Curry, South Petherton and Curry Rivel. refuse collection Crewkerne makes use of water borne litter separation equipment and magnetic technology to separate out ferrous metal from the waste stream. It also collects grass, leaves and garden cuttings which are transported to a composting site where they are processed into the highest quality compost.
We're very sorry about this and are working to resolve the situation. We let our crews refresh and have them back out on the roads as soon as possible but, to make sure we can provide a safe service for everyone, we've resumed collections from these streets this evening (25 February). Residents in these areas can set their refuse out as normal tomorrow morning for collection on Friday 26 February but if they also leave out large bulky items such as furniture and mattresses then crews will visit the same evening to collect them.
