Skelmersdale's Council have stated that despite cooperating with the council in Thornton, they have not arranged sufficient staff to start refuse collections at 8am this morning as scheduled. The refuse collection in Thornton today (26 February) has been delayed due to weather conditions. The refuse collection will take place tomorrow, Friday 27 February. Residents in areas affected by refuse collection in Skelmersdale Lancashire today should be aware that collections will be delayed. Garbage cans must be put out for collection by 6am on the day of collection.

Contractors from Refuse Collection Thornton have pickedup the majority of the waste in Inskip, Irwell, Ormskirk Road, Blaydon Park, Blythewood and Fir Tree Close areas this morning. However, due to adverse weather conditions on site today there will be further delays. Ever since Jane Harrigan at Harrington refuse collection company reassured customers they will be collecting their rubbish after a power cut in Skelmersdale last night, residents have started to complain. The latest refuse collections due to take place in Thornton were delayed by adverse weather conditions, however we do anticipate that these will now take place within the next two working days.
